Rain Rain Rain

The past week here has been nothing but rain every other day and due to my work schedule the days off I have its been pouring and the days I work somewhat overcast....sorry for nothing new and Im trying to get out into the squirrel woods soon. Our season here ends in March but the great thing about our small game season here in Florida is that you are aloud to hunt Wild Hogs even on public land for the most part. Year round though you can shoot wild pigs on private property.

Its About That Time

Its that time again, the end of the deer season. I've learned alot this year and have made myself a better hunter, with both the successes and the failures I have learned another years worth of whitetail knowledge. Time to unstrap the ladder stands, take the locks off and time to start cleaning up trails and making room for next years food plots.

January 10th 2011

Rain, Rain, Rain, all day today and it really affected the hunting. The barometer was at a low all day and the air was hot and muggy. I did jump two does walking back from the stand right after shooting hours. Bummer, but I will try again tomorrow.

Jan 5th 2011

Today I checked the trail cam and no pics. I put it over a feeder but the weather has been going haywire around here and the deer have been moving at odd hours, even with the new moon in effect. I sat for the morning hunt but only stayed till 8 because I was exhausted from no sleep the night before. Low and behold on the way back to the truck I jumped a doe and a yearling lol. But the buck thats been eluding me all season has not been moving much. I found some tracks coming out of the bedding area in which he lives and I assume he's been moving at night and my fear of him becoming nocturnal get worse and worse. Hopefully once I set up the trail cam again in a different spot I can see if he's an 8 point or better.

Jan 3 2011- A Boring Bowhunt

I went to the stand today. A bit warm considering its january and the wind was blowing 5-10 out of the north. Set up a new trail cam in a spot that I've been curious to find out what there. Got into the stand around 4 and waited awhile then noticed some goofball from the adjoining property walking down the trail, and it looked like he was lost and looking for something so instead of yelling at him I let him walk off. There were a group of does that came walking in behind me but I couldn't tell if it was me or the other guy that they winded, but they blew and then ran off and thats my boring day in the woods.

2011 and This Blog

Its 2011 and this is my first post. This blog I created in order to account for all my untold adventures and expeditions I experience on almost a daily basis. I am 24 years old and have a true passion for being outside. Hunting, Fishing, Hiking, Camping, or just driving around in the woods gives me inner peace. When I was a kid teachers just assumed I was A.D.D. and that I needed to be medicated, but instead my parents gave me a fishing pole and a BB gun and from then on I was addicted to being involved in nature. Right now Im going into police academy and hopefully one day I will become a game warden. In doing so I can fulfill my need to be in the woods or on the water and have a job I can truely be excited about.
